Efficient Stacking and Palletizing

Once the chocolates are packaged, our solutions integrate stacking and palletizing processes. Our expertise in vacuum techniques and in house programmed robotic systems with custom made picking tools allows Avercon to build palletizing systems to pack chocolate products onto pallets in a swift way. Additionally, we integrate pallet stretch wrappers that put protective foil around the stacked pallets, ensuring the products to remain safe and secure during transport and storage.

Advanced Technology Integration

Avercon is at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technologies into the chocolate industry. We leverage servo drives, PLC, HMI into the PackML standard (Packaging Machine Language). This to facilitate seamless communication and precise reporting throughout the automation process. We had the opportunity to collaborate with Godiva, a renowned brand in the Belgian chocolate industry. The aim was to create a compact packaging line related to the existing square meters. A packaging line that integrates Avercon case packing machines with existing extra machinery like check weighing, metal detection, printing and labelling.  Avercon succeeded and this unique combination allowed us to optimize the overall packaging line to fit within Godiva’s existing facilities in the heart of Brussels.

The trays with pralines were carefully stacked and packed into wrap around boxes. After quality check and labelling, the wrap around boxes were fully palletized with a compact robot palletizing system. With a throughput of 15 boxes per minute, the system employed roller conveyors, tray & lid configurations, and a specific lid applicator. The palletizing process ensured efficient and organized storage and transportation of the packaged pralines.

For a chocolate drops brand, Avercon developed a comprehensive solution for packaging and palletizing 15kg bags. These bags had a unique rounded shape, requiring special handling and stabilization. Our team developed an innovative vacuum technique to stabilize the bags, enabling smooth and smart packaging.

In addition to the hardware, we developed custom software that was user-friendly and equipped with a Human Machine Interface (HMI). This software seamlessly integrated with the client’s existing IT systems, ensuring excellent communication and data exchange

Avercon was challenged to automate the packaging process for individually wrapped chocolate bars . There was the need to pack small, individually wrapped chocolate bars at a high speed of 750 pieces per minute. To accomplish this, we implemented a specialized counting system for efficient and precise feeding of the exact number of products into the packaging machine.

The system incorporated advanced, high speed servo driven counting mechanisms to ensure accurate quantities. One, 2, or 3 rows of the product are packed in the secondary packaging machine. A small and smart intervention with big impact.  

Machine safety is important to us. Our safety experts have attended the CSME (Certified Safety Machinery Expert) course, certified by TUV Nord, and successfully obtained the certificate. Our goal is to correctly follow relevant guidelines during the development, construction, maintenance and commissioning of our plants. In doing so, we always use the most up-to-date standards.

Risk assessment is started during machinery design. The aim is to assess as many hazards as possible up front the mechanical design stage and reduce them through design changes where possible. It is part of our sustainable approach.
